紅襪作惡夢 宣示砸錢大補強

紅襪隊從去年的世界大賽冠軍，跌落分區墊底，球團主席Tom Werner當然不能接受，宣示今年季後會有大手筆補強。

「去年真是一場美夢，但今年就是惡夢一場，」Werner說，「對球迷、球員而言，這可不是什麼好的體驗，對我也是。我從中唯一的啟發，就是下定決心，明年重返第一。」

「我不能說補強花錢無限制，但我們有大筆銀彈，要從自由市場好好進補一番。」

補強除了得要有錢，也要有方向。「過去這幾個禮拜，我們一直討論該如何補強，」Werner說，「我想，七月底的那筆交易，補強了薄弱的攻擊火力，Yoenis Cespedes會是我們倚重的球員。我們簽下Rusney Castillo，也是一步好棋。但我們需要再補投手戰力。」

要補投手，Jon Lester會是紅襪隊的頭號名單。季前雙方談約不成，731大限之前，紅襪把Lester交易到運動家，不過當時紅襪就曾宣示，希望今年季後再找回Lester。

紅襪老闆John Henry曾說，如果要給長期大約，那麼必須鎖定那些還在巔峰、年紀不能太大的球員。Lester今年30歲，尋求一張六年合約，還在Henry老闆的標準之內。

除了Lester之外，今年自由市場的投手大魚，還有30歲的Max Scherzer、32歲的James Shields。
