科學家直擊 小行星自爆瓦解

〔國際新聞中心／綜合報導〕美國航太總署（NASA）6日提供的一組由哈伯太空望遠鏡所拍攝的照片，顯示在火星與木星軌道之間的小行星帶的一顆直徑大約600公尺到1公里的小行星P/2013 R3，從2013年10月29日到2014年1月14日，在數月時間內逐漸破裂碎成至少10片碎片，每塊碎片都有彗星般的掃帚尾巴，其中最大的4塊每塊直徑約400公尺。

這是科學家第一次觀察到小行星的瓦解，科學家研判破裂原因應該是多年陽光照射導致小行星自轉緩慢加速，最後加速到小行星不穩進而破裂。
