英國4月工業生產比3月增加0.4%，是連續第三個月增加，使工業生產出現2011年以來最強的成長勢頭；與去年同期相比則增加3%。

這項工業調查顯示，英國經濟第2季持續擴張，Markit上周公布的估計數據顯示，第2季經濟成長率邁向0.8%。

4月電力及瓦斯業比3月增產3.7%，但比去年4月減少11.5%，部分是因為今年天氣較暖。製造業生產比3月增加0.4%，比去年4月激增4.4%，以運輸設備、電腦及電子產品最強。工廠生產已連續五個月增加，是2010年來連續增產最長的期間。2-4月工業生產比之前的三個月增加1.1%。

不過4月工業生產水平仍比2008年第1季景氣最高峰時要低11.3%，製造業也比當時低7%。
