日本麥當勞宣布，即日起3,135家連鎖店全面禁菸，一改過去一些分店設立吸菸區的政策。全面禁菸的日本連鎖餐廳仍很少見，星巴克已實施禁菸，許多摩斯漢堡店的特定區域仍可抽菸。
