佛羅里達州長史考特26日下令每天監控經過美國疾病防治中心 (CDC)確認的伊波拉患者兩次，為期21天。但同時，政治人物與科學之間關於隔離醫護人員的爭議正在擴大，美國首席傳染病學專家，「國家敏感症與傳染病研究所」所長弗西說，抗疫的上法是在西非在地抑制疫情，紐約、紐澤西、伊利諾三洲強制隔離從西非返國的醫護人員21天沒有必要，而且嚇阻志工前往疫區協助抗疫。同時，歐巴馬政府已對上述三州的州長施壓，要他們修正隔離政策。官員說，白宮正在加速研擬一套適用於醫護人員的全國政策，不日就會推出，希望各州實施這套新政策。
