Synaptics' new acquisition could bring fingerprint readers to most laptops

人機界面解決方案的領先開發商 Synaptics 公司今日宣佈已簽署最終協議，成功收購智慧手機、平板電腦和筆記型電腦的生物指紋身份驗證解決方案的領先供應商 Validity Sensors, Inc。 Synaptics 將在交易完成時以股份和現金支付大約 9,250 萬美元「加上多年期限的潛在績效支付，總計可能最高達 2.55 億美元」，收購預計將在本季度完成。

Synaptics 對 Validity 的收購會產生聯合效應，還能增強其觸控技術產品組合，置入指紋感應功能，實現產品多樣化，從而加快實現在每台行動計算裝置上部署 Natural ID 技術「Validity 最得意的是 LiveFlex 指紋感測器技術，能提供出色的圖像品質，將高頻 RF 成像應用於手指的生物層」的遠景目標。我們可以預期，在未來筆記型電腦上，或許可以看到指紋識別功能成為標配。
