IBM個人電腦之父羅伊去世

被譽為「IBM個人電腦之父」的羅伊（William Lowe）1980年時還是IBM實驗室的主管，他有個大膽的主意：IBM應發展個人電腦，並大量生產，將IBM的業務從企業擴展到每個家庭。

美國一些公司早在1970年代就生產個人電腦，IBM明顯落後。羅伊向老闆保證他可以組成一個團隊，在一年內製造出IBM的個人電腦。

隔年，IBM 5150個人電腦問世，售價1565美元，不包含監視器。

羅伊10月19日心臟病發去世，享年72歲。（美聯社）
