蘋果執行長庫克16日在發表會介紹iPad Air2，影片以一支鉛筆形容它的薄。庫克說「這麼薄，薄到你看得見嗎？」

iPad Air2厚度6.1mm，比iPad Air薄了18%（iPad Air厚7.5mm），是全球最薄平板，有反反射螢幕塗層（anti-reflection coating）。處理器A8X晶片速度比iPad Air的A7快40%，電池續航力10小時，發表會螢幕秀出金色版iPad Air2。

iPad Air2有全新800萬畫素鏡頭（前版500萬）、連拍模式（Burstmode）、縮時攝影、慢動作攝影（iOS 8的功能）。Wi-fi和LTE都更快，有Touch ID指紋辨識功能，作業系統iOS 8.1（目前版本是iOS8.0.2）。

iPad Air2 16GB售價499美元起。
