去年發生的日月光廢水案，今天一審判決結果出爐，環保署長魏國彥今天表示，對高雄地檢署的判決予以尊重，判決結果牽涉國人怎麼感受，環保署會進一步研讀判決書跟判決理由，看是否進一步補強、修改政策。

對於民眾批評相關人員被輕判，魏國彥說，這次法源依據是廢棄物清理法41條判出的結果，但水汙染防制法正在修法，刑度、罰鍰上限都有空間修正，可依此次判決結果為依據，讓大家訂出較適當的裁量，例如依環署的版本，若亂排廢水行為致死的話，可以判無期徒刑。

對張虔生等日月光高層因不知情，而未被判刑，魏國彥表示，法官依證據辦案，尊重判決。
