消失多年 亞洲麒麟越南現蹤

世界自然基金會(WWF)今天(13日)表示，全球極為稀有且瀕臨絕種的哺乳類武廣牛(Saola)，15年來首次於鏡頭前現蹤，重新燃起復育該物種的希望。

武廣牛又名安南錠角羚、劍角牛或索拉羚，有「亞洲麒麟」之稱。WWF今天發表聲明指出，今年9月在越南中部拍到牠出沒的畫面。

WWF越南主任范玉霆(Van Ngoc Thinh)表示，「這項發現非常振奮人心，因為復育武廣牛再度有望了」。

聲明中表示，WWF已在拍攝到武廣牛的地點僱用當地守衛，拆除周圍陷阱並防止盜獵活動，以免威脅到武廣牛的生存。

1992年，WWF和越南林務單位共同組成的團隊，前往偏遠的越南與寮國邊境山區探勘，竟在一名獵人家中發現具特殊犄角的頭骨，因而得知武廣牛的存在，這是科學界50年來首度發現的全新大型哺乳物種。

20年來，科學家對武廣牛仍所知有限，加上牠行蹤飄忽不定，因而難以統計確切數量，粗估其數量可能有上百頭，但也可能只剩幾十頭。
