火山活動頻繁日本新小島長大

日本朝日新聞13日報導，小笠原群島附近海域的海底火山去年11月20日爆發，形成直徑約200公尺、面積0.01平方公里的新陸塊，因火山熔岩持續噴發，如今島嶼面積已擴大至1.85平方公里。

這是日本1980年代以來，首次發生地質活動產生小島的現象。日本海上保安廳表示，小笠原群島的新陸塊去年12月25日與500公尺外的西之島相連，整體面積為1.89平方公里，為西之島原本面積的8.6倍。東京大學地震研究所中田節也教授認為，火山還會持續噴發數年。
