美郵局去年核准監控近5萬件郵件

紐約時報27日報導，美國郵局（United States Postal Service）去年核准美國司法機構及郵局內部檢查單位所提的近5萬件申請案，祕密監控美國民眾的郵件，進行刑事及國安調查。

紐時的調查報告指出，這項申請數字顯示，郵件監控計畫的範圍遠比先前政府各單位所透露的廣泛，而保障美國民眾不受政府濫權之害的監督機制則鬆弛散漫。
